Session Description: Understanding what happens in the brain is the foundation needed to cope with dementia. Caregivers say that stress is reduced when they understand the disease process and the resulting symptoms.
The workshop gives basic information about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and will help participants understand the impact of dementia on the individuals and those close to them. Included in the workshop, is information on how dementia affects the brain across the progression of the disease.
Family caregivers or caregivers is someone who has an active role in supporting or caring for a person with dementia (ie a spouse or partner, sibling, adult child, adult grandchild, neighbor, friend)

Kate has extensive training and experience in theatrical studies with an emphasis in acting. Her leadership skills are highly recognized in her ability as a motivational, life skills facilitator.
Session Description: Research has proven that laughter is the best medicine to combat illness, relieve stress and strengthen the immune system. It is the safest, fastest and easiest exercise for body and mind.
Laughter Yoga is a purely physical form of exercise that simulates laughter with playfulness and eye contact within a group. It does not rely on humour, jokes or comedy and is therefore the easiest method to exercise the entire body system. – it’s a lot more fun that a stationary bike!

On Saturday September 25th at 2pm 101 Squadron will dedicate a cairn to the crew of Canso 11043 that crashed on July 31, 1945 after completing the last operation Marine Reconnaissance flight of WWll on the West Coast. The ceremony will take place at the old RCAF Station in Coal harbour.
The next day Sunday September 26th 101 Squadron will remember the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain with a parade at 11am in front of the cenotaph at Carrot Park Port Hardy. The public is invited to both ceremonies.

Session Description: In this session you will learn how moderate exercise is important in recovering from and prevention all types of chronic disease and especially heart disease. It will help people to dy-mystify exercise as people still think they have to work really hard and that it is “no pain –no gain”. That is a myth and frequently hard on the body plus painful. We will also briefly talk about the benefits of good nutrition and stress reduction in recovering from and living with chronic diseases of all types.

The Gardens will be lit up with thousands of Christmas lights. We have a variety of local musicians performing seasonal music from choral to instrumental, including one sing along evening on opening night. Volunteers from the local library delight children and parents alike with storytelling, and musicians will entertain in the Milner House, decorated in old fashioned Christmas splendour. Guess the number of teddy bears in the gardener's cottage to win a prize or bid on silent auction items. Gift shops and tea room will be open. Home-made jams made from fruits from the garden make tasty gifts. All donations support the garden. Although the Gardens are lit up we suggest you bring a flashlight.
